There was just one issue, steam doesn't provide a CD key upon purchasing the game and I wasn't about to spend 60+ dollars just to buy an EA game I wouldn't even play anyway. So I took to the internet and every source I could find told me that I needed to activate spore with a product key/CD key, or link my origin account (Which I heard doesn't even work half of the time anyway). No matter how hard I tried to fix the problem nothing worked. No matter how many times I tried, there would always be an error while connecting to EA's servers. I could not make a Spore account for whatever reason. But there was one issue I had when I first started playing. So, I recently bought Spore off of Steam and I've been having a blast playing it so far. This discussion won't be going anywhere, in case there's some chance it still works for somebody out there, so don't worry it's not going anywhere. And I want to thank EA personally for ruining everyone's dreams of ever being able to play this game properly, thank you EA for being truly awful and a terrible company. I was glad to help anyone who managed to take advantage of this while it was still working. Thank you everyone for spreading the word, and helping people avoid EA's BS. ![]() So unfortunately, I think this method has pretty much been debunked. There hasn't been any signs that this work around still works. They removed the option to get CD keys from steam entirely. ![]() So, in their infinite quest to ruin everything related to video games, EA has shut it down. ![]() Edit: So unfortunately, in light of recent comments and personal accounts, I think EA has finally picked up on this little work around for activation/ attaining a CD key.
